For a couple nights away the swimming pool/gym facilities and room were ideal and food is great.

Pros: Gary? on reception when we arrived was great. Super friendly and helped us out as it was our first time visiting. The boys in the bar were all super polite and lovely. The room is big and comfortable for what we paid.

Cons: When we was eating both nights in the restaurant/ bar area we noticed little black fruit flys, a little off putting but we understand that maybe nothing can be done about that.

Great room, good facilities, lovely breakfast!

Pros: The room was very comfortable! A lovely large bed, a nice shower and tea, coffee and biscuits in the room always welcome. The pool area was great with the spa and sauna and steam room in use.

Cons: There aren’t many loungers around the pool area so you do feel you need to be lucky to get one. They aren’t that comfortable either!

Perfect placing for attending Houchins wedding venue. Ideal for a weekend of golfing, we'll be back.

Pros: The staff were so kind and helpful, we needed to check out the room for my frail, elderly mother, and Rebecca showed us the facilities to put our minds at rest. We were also upgraded to a newly refurbished room after my partner mentioned the difficulty I had in climbing in and out of the bath, ( I have hip problems ) as our room had not yet been refurbished. The restaurant staff were also kind and helpful, so I could get meals to my mother, as her mobility is so compromised.

Cons: Room service would have been helpful, but the staff made it easy for me to take food to my mother.

Overall, I would recommend The Essex and hope to go again with friends.

Pros: This is the second time we've stayed at The Essex and would highly recommend it. The room and breakfast are both great. What we like the most is the arrange of facilities available for families.

Cons: The tennis rackets we borrowed were awful. The handle was hanging off. Just a recommendation would be to have a couple of pool tables or table tennis tables for the family to play on.
