The Scole Hotel

This 17th century coaching inn has retained many of its original features, including a hand carved staircase and hand painted sundial. The bar boasts 2 magnificent fireplaces which are reputedly the largest in East Anglia. We stock cask conditioned ales and a wide selection of fine wines. Food is served in both the bar and restaurant. All bedrooms are en suite, many with feature fireplaces and luxurious four-poster beds. Situated 2 miles from the historic market town of Diss, on the Norfolk and Suffolk border, The Scole Inn offers an ideal location for exploring both counties. Local attractions include Banham Zoo (8 miles), where 10,000 animals are found in 35 acres of parkland. Highlights include bird of prey displays and a safari road train.

If you like hotels with a haunted and interesting history, this is for you. Quirky and typically old English, I’d say

Pros: Its proximity to everything we needed was brilliant and the historic building was everything we hoped for. Our room wasn’t all that lovely, unfortunately. Smelled very musty (our son’s at the opposite end of the hotel was so much better) But the breakfast was lovely and the staff so very friendly, so all good

Totally recommend

Pros: Mostly everything. Lovely building to stay in. Staff were friendly. Lovely location. Clean rooms with complimentary water/ tea etc topped up daily. Just all round lovely.

Cons: Room got a bit chilly. But there was an electric heater which helped. As did blocking the draft under the door, so all good.

Lovely place to stay.

Pros: Room was lovely, my son and daughter in law enjoyed their stay. Little things like the coffee machine in the room just made it feel a little special.

Cons: Shower pressure was quite poor, however the water was lovely and warm

Welcoming and comfortable

Pros: Check-in and check out flowed very well. I was welcomed, and staff were attentive from booking up until my departure.. They adapted to my arrival time as I was delayed. The hotel never locked their doors, so guests were able to come and go to suit themselves. Room was clean, warm and cosy with beverage facilties.

Gorgeous historical 1655 building, loved our stay and staff were so friendly and warm.

Pros: Breakfast was incredible, really delicious and swift service.

Cons: As expected in a beautiful 1655 heritage building, the heating was not as effective in the room as it was unexpectedly snowing and freezing temps during our visit.
