YHA Cambridge - What a pleasant surprise!

Pros: Close proximity to Cambridge Railway Station and bus services from there into town and Addenbrookes Hospital. Welcoming informal atmosphere Nice 'rustic' cafe/bar/restaurant area on entry Security within the building - corridors, rooms and facilities accessible with a keycard Bedroom: Crisp white bedlinen & comfortable bunk-bed Bedroom window that opened! Spotless sink with mirror in room In a quiet residential area, so minimal noise at night

Cons: Very early checkout at 10am. For me on that stay had to leave very early before 8am for an appointment so this did not matter, but if I'd been staying for leisure or rest would probably have found 10am too early, instead of the 11 or 12 noon check-out in most 'hotels'!

Simple and nice

Pros: Nice, conveniently located, quiet. You get what you paid for. It was also possible to buy breakfast in the morning - no need to book in advance. All the staff were friendly and helpful.

Cons: Self closures on doors caused a loud noise in the night when thoughtless guests just let them go rather than closed them gently walking me up a few times. This was just a complaint about thoughtless guests staying not about the YHA

Pros: The hostel’s location was near the station, so it was very convenient. They even kept my luggage in the locker room before check-in time, which made it easier for me to roam around Cambridge without the hassle of carrying luggage. The staff was very polite and helpful. It was clean.

Cons: The only thing that bothered me was the wash basin inside the room. It was just next to my bed, with other person’s toothbrush and toothpaste kept there, and a dustbin just below that. I left the room early in the morning, but I can’t even imagine that a stranger was brushing inside the room, right next to my bed.

Enjoyable stay in Cambridge. I recommend the YHA as a clean and friendly budget place to stay.

Pros: Clean good-sized room, pleasant location near to train station, friendly and kind staff. Good price. Thank you.

Cons: I didn't sleep well because of background noise but I don't think I could expect anything else for the price. Having to leave my car in the Park and Ride was a nuisance but I understand not much alternative in the centre of Cambridge and central YHA location was great.
