The Fox is a 15th-century inn, around 5 minutes’ walk from the centre of Bury St Edmunds. It offers a high standard of bed and breakfast accommodation alongside its popular restaurant and bar with pretty terrace beer garden. All rooms at The Fox are equipped with underfloor heating, and incorporate locally made granite-topped furniture. Each has a flat-screen TV, safe, iron, hairdryer and free Wi-Fi, as well as tea and coffee facilities, with the superior Hayloft Suite featuring a luxurious four-poster bed and 2-person bath. Guests can enjoy a freshly cooked full English breakfast served in the inn. Extremely pleasant stay in very good quality accommodation

Pros: Excellent, clean and comfortable room in good quality and well presented ground-level accommodation with car parking close by. The bed was of a very good size as was the room. We were very warm throughout our stay (sometimes too warm!) and enjoyed eating in the main rooms of The Fox. The food on the whole was excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. The Fox is pleasantly and conveniently located a few minutes walk from the Cathedral, which was the focus of our stay.

Cons: Difficult to fault this accommodation, however a bath grab rail close to the bath would have been reassuring due to my mobility issues, I was given a non-slip mat for the bath when I asked at reception which was needed. Breakfast was as stated however food is served direct from the kitchen with no buffet opportunity. My requested continental breakfast of fruit and yoghurt could have been prepared a little more carefully without added orange skins/pips and apple core to contend with! The Croissant was however delicious! These are minor issues and can easily be resolved with a little more food presentation training. The window in our room did not have a lock/opening restriction and being ground floor could have been a security issue when we left it open for a bit of fresh air.

Amazing Quality Stay

Pros: Beautiful room inside and out. Spacious, warm with great decor. Easy parking too. The location is spot on for an easy walk into the town centre or the Abbey Gardens. The bar restaurant is lovely and all staff we spoke with were nice, welcoming and friendly especially Ryan and Maddie. I would highly recommend this place for food, a drink and or a place to stay. This is where I will be booking again if and when I come back to Bury St Edmunds

It was lovely. Nothing was to much trouble. We were even allowed to leave our car there the next day while we shopped.

Pros: Staff are welcoming. Pottery is lovely, location is perfect on the edge of town only a 5 minute walk and your in the main town. But still quiet enough for a rest full sleep

Cons: It was old in style but very welcoming to all.

A great Inn

Pros: Everything! The room was gorgeous, the pub is nice and the staff very friendly. Great location too.

Cons: Unfortunately our room was the first one and you could hear a constant humming, probably from the kitchen fans?

Lovely way to spend Christmas Eve/Day

Pros: Location was perfect for last minute shopping in town. It’s all newly renovated. Plenty of parking and pub was beautifully decorated for Christmas. Staff very friendly.

Cons: Bed was too hard and room was cold. However this was sorted by house keeper bringing in an extra radiator. Food in pub wasn’t great however they were incredibly busy.
