Welcome to our 15th Century inn where our modern twist on the traditional creates a wonderful setting to enjoy our food, sample our local ales, explore our wine list and rest a weary head. The restaurant is open 7 days a week, we are open for Bed & Breakfast only. Set in the picturesque village of Long Melford in the heart of Suffolk, we celebrate all that is great about our fantastic region – its people, provenance and personality. When it is time to hit the hay enjoy a restful night’s sleep in one of our ten individually styled bedrooms. Our bedrooms consist of cosy snugs, luxury rooms, a luxury suite and a family room with modern interior styling that is sympathetic to our Georgian building. Amenities in our bedrooms include flat screen TVs, tea and coffee facilities, superfast WIFI and Bramley products. Wagging tails will always be welcome through our door. So much so, that we have created an overnight stay package and a special dog menu, with your four-legged companion in mind.

Good location, wonderful food and of course the Suffolk breakfast.

Pros: Parking was easy, friendly reception when we arrived. Our room was at the top so out of the way of the usual hotel noises. We dinned at the Black Lion, which we enjoyed as it was cooked well and very tasty.

Cons: Our stay at the hotel was too short.

Delightful & special retreat with great food & staff!

Pros: Absolutely everything! Delightful, homely, clean & stylish establishment with fabulous staff, food & ambience. A wonderful, romantic birthday celebration was had! Nothing we disliked. The food and wine at supper were excellent & breakfast was divine. A special place and we will return! Thank you 🙏❤️😊

Wonderful place for rest and relaxation!

Pros: Another lovely stay at The Black Lion. Enjoyed the fact that it was all 'Christmassy'! Great evening meal. Good breakfast, lovely staff. Ideal for a solo traveller and for rest and relaxation!

Pros: everything exceptional stay , loved the hotel, room was more than adequate comfy and really quiet which was what we needed , price was exceptional, food was amazing with plenty of choice, staff very friendly and welcoming, will definitely return

Pros: Very good central location and nice place to walk along the main street. Great outlook from our bedroom over the grassed expanse of the village green.

Cons: Wi-fi and telephone signal was poor.

Wonderful hotel and staff.

Pros: Location. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. The breakfast was lovely. The atmosphere of the hotel wax wonderful. We will return again one day.

Cons: The windows in our room (8)could not be opened. Not a problem to us but could be difficult during heatwaves. There was a fan which was fine with us. There was no bath rubber matt so was a little slippery in the shower.
