The Bull Inn

The Bull is a historic coaching inn located in the center of charming Woodbridge. The property overlooks Market Hill with the impressive Elizabethan Shire Hall and the beautiful St Mary’s Church. The current building has been extended over the years and stands on the site of an older hostelry of the same name. The present building dates from the days when it was a posting house for the stagecoaches which ran from London to Great Yarmouth. Around the bar, you will see parts of the original timber-frame which pre-dates the current structure and could possibly date from the 15th century in common with several other buildings around the market square. All rooms have private ensuite facilities, free high-speed Wi-Fi, telephone, central heating and a modern high-pressure shower system. The restaurant features traditional British dishes using fresh seasonal ingredients from local suppliers. The bar has an extensive wine menu and a good selection of local real ales and beers. Woodbridge is a small country town on the River Deben - an area of outstanding natural beauty. The town boats an impressive array of independent shops, restaurants, cafes and bars. Sutton Hoo is a short drive and the coast is 15 miles away.

A wonderful stay in a lovely hotel in a beautiful town.

Pros: A wonderful warm welcome from the staff when we arrived. A really cosy bar with a lovely atmosphere and a delicious meal. We stayed in a Master Suite which was beautifully set out with a lounge area and exceptionally clean. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. We enjoyed a wonderful breakfast in the morning. We would definitely stay again.

Very comfortable and made very welcome by the staff.

Pros: Friendly staff. Food was excellent. Bar was very cosy and very well stocked. Try the small plates menu. Superb.

Very nice, lively, old hotel in the centre of Woodbridge with spacious rooms.

Pros: Historic old pub/hotel. Very popular and right in the centre of Woodbridge - an obvious local community focal point. On site parking and our rooms were really big for an old place like this.

Great stay in friendly tradition old pub with supper breakfast and newly decorated room

Pros: Friendly staff and owner. Very clean and newly decorated. Great breakfast. Parking on site although there was a charge for named space during your stay.

Excellent Hotel/Pub

Pros: We like this pub. It is on one side of the historic town square and in the summer there are tables outside. Food is far better than you would expect and the staff are friendly and capable. We go for the large room overlooking the square and it is very comfortable. You need to request car parking at the time of booking.

We would stay at the hotel again

Pros: We travelled down to meet family who live in Woodbridge so we were familiar with the hotel. The room was adequate for the two of us with the usual facilities i.e. kettle coffee/tea . the breakfast was good and the food in the restaurant was excellent

What's not to like?

Pros: My only reluctance in commenting on the Bull is that, if I am too positive about it, there might not be any availability the next time I want to stay there. Very friendly and helpful staff, lovely comfortable, clean room, great shower, really good evening meals and breakfast.

Cons: Nothing.
