Wonderfully old world with lots of personality and very good food

Pros: It's a beautiful and peaceful village that's great if you like history, folklore and the countryside. The Jolly Sailor was once 3 sailors cottages but was made into an in during 1700s. Its a quirky and atmospheric building and a lovely old English pub with personality. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Jules took very good care of me and is just a throughly good egg. Rook (the chef) was charming and genuinely passionate about his work. I recommend the Barcelona Chowder, thr fish n chips and the kippers. All superb and locally sourced. I went at a quiet time of year and got lucky with the weather. You are hardly more than a stones throw from the quayside which is lovely. The pub is dog friendly. I met lots of friendly locals as I explored the village and surrounding area. My room was called Loch Long and it was very comfortable with plenty of sunlight and a deep bath. I look forward to going again

Cons: Honestly I had no problems. It is a very old building, so not for everyone.

Good, but could have been better

Pros: Standard of cooking and quality of ingredients excellent. Pub has lots of olde-world character, and in an excellent position down by Orford Quay. Sea Shanty evening was a nice bonus too

Cons: Low point was being told on a Sunday afternoon that no food was available but a “Chinese takeaway in Woodbridge could deliver” ( this was resolved sstisfactorily). Lack of attention to little details: eg 3 mornings in a row no granular sugar for cereals, just ( useless) lumps. Coffee machine in room had incompatible mugs which didn’t fit under the spout, Little things, but they matter!

Used the pub as our base, friendly, knowledgeable staff. Loved it.

Pros: Location was excellent, even with the bad weather and roads closed. The breakfast flexible, we opted for full english & kippers - both excellent.

Cons: Housekeeping was challenging, due to being out of season and only occupants!

Pros: From check in to leaving all the staff were polite and ensuring that our stay was good. Took advantage of joining their mailing list and received 50% off our evening meal. Bedroom was quiet and clean, all the facilities you require. Shall saty again and recommend. Bravo Jolly Sailors.

Cons: Non.

Pros: Very old but convenient location, accommodation rooms were well decorated. Very good cooked breakfast. Bed was extremely comfortable.

Cons: Our had a bath we would have preferred a shower.

Pros: Mainly good but fresh fruit would’ve been good & maybe tomato with the cooked breakfast

Enjoyed staying at the Jolly Sailor very much, recommended

Pros: Very comfortable bed - great pillows and a lovely duvet. It’s great location, the staff were all very kind and helpful. Food was great, both dinner and breakfast well cooked and presented.

Cons: Knew likely stairs might be an issue due to age of building, and they were - very steep, but thankfully not too many of them! The bathroom was warm and inviting, but the lovely deep bath was itself an accident waiting to happen for older, less nimble people.
