Castle Lodge

Castle Lodge is ideally located on the doorstep of Ely's historic city centre. Guests can enjoy a stay in any of our 17 comfortable bedrooms which range from single and double rooms with shared bathrooms which are situated on the second floor and some rooms have restricted headroom to doubles, twins and family suites with private bathrooms and even a four-poster bed! Rooms on the first and second floor are accessed via stairs only. All rooms have TVs, tea and coffee facilities, we do not have air conditioning as parts of the hotel date back to the 1800’s, we do provide fans in all our rooms for comfort, free WiFi. We serve a light breakfast in our dining room. Please note we do not have a reception area we have self-check-in facilities, key codes are sent to you prior to arrival as we do not have staff on site, there is free car parking (including on-site electric charging facilities for our guests only), we aim to provide affordable accommodation to visitors to Ely and the surrounding area. We do not have any secure area to store left luggage. he hotel and Ely Rail Station a 25-minute walk away.

A pleasant stay in Ely

Pros: Nice large room, comfortable beds, easy access via the lock codes sent in advance. The hotel was well-positioned for the city centre with ample parking, including electric and tesla charging facilities.

Cons: The interior could do with a lick of paint as it was looking tired in places. The breakfasts were OK, but a few touches were missing e.g part of the toaster didn't seem to be working, there was only hot (not boiling) water in the urn so the tea bags didn't infuse properly.

Good location and comfortable room. Excellent breakfast - I came away feeling ready for the day.

Pros: Not luxurious but more than adequate. Nice comfortable bed - I had a good nights sleep. The breakfast was excellent - perfectly poached eggs and lovely tasty brown bread. Good choice of cereal, juices and preserves.

Cons: I was in room 3. The listing said a fan would be provided but I couldn’t find one. Luckily the weather wasn’t too hot so it didn’t matter too much. The two-button toilet flush was broken - only one of the buttons functioned. No big problem but thought I’d mention it so that the owners are aware and can get it fixed.

Convenient for visiting the major attractions in Ely, and breakfast to start the day.

Pros: Very convenient to walk to the city, attractions, shops, supermarket. Even if you cannot get into the hotel car park, there was always space in front of the hotel for free. Nice cooked breakfast and nice staff.

Brilliant

Pros: I particularly like the key code entry, by far the best so far, much better the key cards that are unreliable at best. Room basic but functional, bed was very comfortable.

A clean and hospitable place to stay, close to the places to see and visit in Ely

Pros: Fast and efficient service, breakfast was well prepared and cooked. Staff were a pleasure to meet and talk to.

Cons: Some items in the room were ‘tired’, I.e. the room radiator was non functional and an oil filled portable heater was the rooms source of heating. The shower unit had parts of it missing but was useable.
