Lovely stay in a great location

Pros: The rooms were lovely and comfortable, with all the required amenities, although note that the single bed room doesn't have a desk. The staff were friendly and accommodating and the location in the centre of the town makes it very easy to explore - it's also only 20 minutes from Stansted airport.

Cons: There was noise from the pub in the evenings, which is to be expected, so bring earplugs. The parking is also a bit of a nightmare because the pub patrons use it even though it's meant to be reserved for guests. I had to park down the street in the free car park and walk up to the pub, and peer out the window to see when a space opened up.

Beautiful stay - rooms were perfect, had everything you could possibly need.

Pros: The lady on reception!!! Wow!! The most professional, fantastic, attention to detailed woman I’ve ever encountered!!! Wish I knew her name, but she made us feel like family - thank you for a wonderful evening.

Cons: Nothing to report.

Pros: Room was clean and comfortable. A good menu with a variety of options. Meals were ample and well-presented. Breakfasts cooked to order with several choices. All the staff were courteous and attentive. Bar and food prices were good value. Handy location close to Saffron Walden and Audley End.

Cons: Some noise in the room from the bar area however it quietened down after closing time.

Relaxing weekend in a very friendly, cosy pub.

Pros: We were here in 2018 and we wanted to go back for our weekend away as the location suited us and we had good memories from before. The place was buzzing and at a time when a lot of pubs are falling by the wayside. The room was comfy and warm. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The menu was varied and the food we had was good value and tasty.

Cons: Nothing really.

Ideal for what we wanted…good value and would definitely stay again

Pros: The breakfast was very good. Delicious fruit, muesli and yoghurt, pastries and very nice menu for cooked breakfast..which was very good.

Cons: We stayed in room 1 and our standard double bed was too small but the room was well appointed and comfortable.

Overall a great place to stay..

Pros: The room was clean and had all the facilities needed, tea facilities were also available..

Pros: Lovely place to stay, food amazing great inn, staff so friendly the receptionist lady was one of the nicest people I have met when checking in. Will be going back

Pros: Does what it says on the tin. Had issue with heating - staff tried fixing ASAP.

The perfect place to stay for exploring the area.

Pros: It was warm, cosy, clean and very comfortable. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

Cons: There was nothing that I didn't like.
