Classy hotel right by the castle

Pros: The staff were super friendly and helpful. When you get into the hotel there's an instant feeling of calm and that continues into the room which was simple and sparley decorated. It was really lovely to have a kettle and coffee machine so I could have a cuppa at any time during the day.

Pros: Staff - especially the waitress on Sunday morning who was excellent

Cons: Restaurant could have had a bit more atmosphere, food was excellent, but the place was very dull - music wasn't great

Beautiful property, looking forward to coming back.

Pros: We stayed in room 23. On arrival, staff very friendly and helpful. Free parking in gated area. Well lit outside. Situated walking distance to town but still very peaceful for a Friday night. The room was Incredibly spacious, pristine, good quality toiletries, lovely minibar (genuinely cold). Our dog enjoyed the private courtyard and treats left for him (and a little letter sent to him which was a lovely touch). The bath was spacious enough for two, with separate powerful shower and heated towel rail. Lighting was excellent for make up etc.

The only place we would stay in Colchester!

Pros: Our second visit was just as good as our first. The location, cleanliness, gorgeous rooms and value for money were excellent. Our bathroom was amazing. Staff friendly and helpful.

Cons: Breakfast service was the only negative. Had to wait almost half an hour to be seated due to staff shortage. But once we did the food was delicious.

Pros: A lovely hotel, comfortable room and wonderful dinner.

Cons: Our junior suite took along time to heat up as it was cold.

Pros: Love the location and the bedroom sizes are generous.

Cons: The only thing I would say that needs to be improved is the pillows on the beds as they’re very soft which can make them uncomfortable. If this is not possible perhaps providing spare pillows would help.

Pros: Beautiful room, the whole place is delightful. Lovely and clean and smells gorgeous! Food is delicious and a lovely selection of drinks. Even got a free beer in the room!
